Energy Efficiency Choices: Spotlight on Cornerstone Townhomes

Cornerstone Townhomes is Ascent's latest development project. The townhomes, located in Thornton, Colorado, are beautiful 2- to 3-bedroom units with a ton of great features. One of our favorite things to highlight to potential buyers, though, is how many energy efficient choices have been integrated into the design. If you're thinking about what energy efficient choices you can make in your new home, here is a list of features that we think are the most important in terms of energy efficient homes:

  • Vinyl dual pane insulated windows with internal grids
  • Therma Tru® Smooth Star fiberglass entry doors
  • Insulation ratings: Ceilings/attic R-49, Exterior walls R-21, Floors R-30
  • 92% efficient gas forced air furnace with programmable setback thermostat
  • 50-gallon high efficiency water heater
  • Pressure balanced shower valves and conservation efficient plumbing fixtures

If you're building a new home, you have a great opportunity to make it as energy efficient as possible. Of course you can always do these things as upgrades to an existing home as well (usually piece-by-piece is the most painless way!). Though the cost may be a little higher up front, you usually recoup those costs very quickly with your lowered energy bill. And you can feel good about the impact you are having on the environment as well.

If you'd rather have someone else do the legwork for you (ahem, us), then stop on by the Cornerstone Townhomes sales office to learn more and find out what units are available. Call 303-868-1296 to schedule an appointment.
