Home Maintenance Tips: Keeping the Paint in Your Home Fresh

One of the absolute best ways to give your home a makeover is to repaint the interior. Although it will look great and completely transform your home, it is not always a feasible thing to accomplish as it can become very costly and time-consuming to do the entire interior. You can really keep the paint fresh by systematically touching it up. Check out some good home maintenance tips on keeping the paint in your home fresh.

Color Matching

If you happen to have leftover paint or extra cans of your current colors, that will make things a lot easier for you. Then it's just a matter of simply rolling the paint over any dirt spots or imperfections. It may look a little blotchy and weird when it's wet, but it should dry as if the whole room was just repainted. If you don't have any leftover paint, you will need to do your best to color match. You can bring a sample of the paint to a hardware store and have them do their best to match it.

Touching Up

When you are ready to touch up the paint, work from corner to corner, making sure to not get any paint where it doesn't belong. Even if there is a minor shade difference, you shouldn't notice it. If the walls are very dirty or stained with nicotine, you may need to apply a stain blocker first before applying the paint.
