Top Remodeling Trends for 2014

With the housing market holding steady for the new year, many homeowners are looking at remodels for the new year. Here are a few of the remodeling trends we are seeing for 2014.

Modern Kitchens: Just a few years ago, kitchens were more rustic and country-inspired, but recent home sales show that modern kitchens are in. This means white or gray cabinetry, simple countertops and minimalist designs.
Brass Accents: Brass accents have made a comeback, and are expected to pick up even more in 2014. Instead of highly polished brass, dull and hammered brass is in, and will be incorporated into bathrooms and kitchens.
Updated Bathrooms: Bathroom remodels were second to kitchen remodels, and resort-style bathrooms are much more popular now than vintage ones. Glass tiles and neutral colors such as gray, light blue and off white are trendy.
Vibrant Colors: While the kitchen and bathrooms are trending neutral, the rest of the house should have vibrant colors. Accent walls and main paint colors will be even brighter than in 2013.
Sustainable Materials: While going green has been trending for awhile, it is becoming more the norm in 2014 than an add-on or additional cost. Energy efficient appliances will be a must in any remodel moving forward.
